Our Story: 50 Years of Trust on Gandhi Road

Monika Electric is an Authorised Stockist and supplier of electrical goods in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, founded by Rohit Shah in 1974.

Through three group firms, Monika Electric Corporation, Jainam Enterprise and Monika Electro Tech, it supplies genuine products from 15 brands, including Polycab, Schneider Electric, Anchor Roma, Atomberg, Philips and Sintex. It is best known as a leading supplier of Steelgrip insulation tape rolls, with large stock always ready. It has sold Steelgrip since 1984, when the brand was with Bhor Industries, and continues as Authorised Distributor now that the brand is with Pidilite Industries. It serves electricians, contractors, retailers, builders, panel makers and factories across Gujarat and all over India, from its shop on Gandhi Road. Today the family business is run by Rohit Shah and his son, Jainam Shah.

Our story

Our story

In 1974, Rohit Shah opened Monika Electric Corporation in Ahmedabad with a simple idea. Give every customer genuine electrical goods, honest advice and supply on time. Electricians, contractors and factory buyers soon learnt that what they ordered from Monika was what they received.

Fifty years later, that idea still guides us. We work from MONIKA HOUSE on Gandhi Road, in the old trading heart of the city. Over the decades our customers have grown from local electricians to builders, panel makers and plant teams across Gujarat, and today we supply buyers all over India. Steel, textile, POY and dyeing, diamond and chemical units, hospitals and showroom projects all buy from us.

As the business grew, so did the range and the family of firms. B.P.I. joined our range in 1975, and Steelgrip in 1984. Jainam Enterprise started in 1998 for PVC pipe accessories and flexible pipes. Monika Electro Tech followed in 2022 for Schneider Electric and Sintex. Together, the three firms are Authorised Stockist and supplier of 15 trusted brands.

Today, Rohit Shah's son, Jainam Shah, carries the business forward alongside him. Jainam has brought newer ways of working, like WhatsApp enquiries, while keeping the values his father built the firm on. In 2024 we celebrated our Golden Jubilee, 50 years of serving the trade.

Some things have not changed. As an Authorised Stockist for most of our brands, and Authorised Distributor for Steelgrip, we supply genuine stock with proper billing. We keep regular items ready, so your site or plant is not kept waiting. And you still deal with the family, not a call centre.

Thank you for trusting a family business for half a century. Send us your list, and let us show you why buyers keep coming back.
